International Arbiter Nonna Karakashyan participated as an arbiter in various chess competitions, including World Women Championship (1988, Tskhaltubo, Georgia), 31st & 32nd World Chess Olympiad (1994, Moscow, Russia; 1996, Yerevan, Armenia), USSR Women Championship - Finale Tournament (1991, Lvov, Ukraine, as a Chief Arbiter), many other international tournaments.

Since 1975 Mrs. N.Karakashyan has been a trainer of junior chess players from beginners to candidates in sport schools of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine. For the third school year she is a chess teacher in SchoolPlus of Rutgers University (Piscataway, NJ) where number of her chess students increased almost in 8 times since she started classes. Among her students both beginners and advanced chess players.
