I have a doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education combined with Family Studies and Philosophy of Education from an Ivy League institution in NYC. I believe that an advanced degree in early childhood education is not enough without knowledge of family dynamics and a strong sense of philosophical values that I apply in my teachings. I have been teaching early childhood classes from infants to second grade for 14 years and have taught Mathematics for 3rd and 4th graders.

Currently, I am a part of a research team for the National Association for The Education of Young Children and institutions such as Harvard, Michigan State, and Columbia University. I also own and run an early childhood home learning circle, where learning in young children is being achieved through relationships between families, educators, and children. My other current project is to finish writing my first book which I hope to publish soon.

Mathematics isn't a subject in early childhood; rather, it is a foundation for childrens' developmental needs, both cognitive and emotional. Mathematics is based on logic; mathematics is a way of thinking. Therefore, my Math class will contain two elements: developing logic and learning mathematical skills such as numbers, patterns, addition, subtraction, events, money,etc. Logic is also helpful for children to cope with processes of waiting, taking turns, sharing, social interaction, and other skills that would need emotional readiness. In my years of teaching, I have noticed that children who are able to use logic have a lower tendency to throw tantrums because of their abilities to understand process and develop thoughts.

What would you expect from my class?

• Every sub-subject will be covered thoroughly so a fundamental understanding is met.
• Homework will be given; some sections will be challenging and some will be easy. The homework will always be divided to: MUST and OPTIONAL.
• Learning will be fun yet will meet its goal. The first 15 min will be learning from games, the next 20-25 will be rigorous learning, and the closing will be a review and Q&A session.
• Individual attention is expected; I believe that the only way a child learns is if we make an attempt to understand him or her, and respect him/her truthfully. Having said that, I will make sure that a group understanding is also achieved so nobody feels left out.
• My teaching style is humorous, communicative, yet I expect a certain level of respect and responsibility from my students.
