I enjoy teaching mathematics, as it is world where problems have a solution. I feel my students can appreciate my enjoyment for the subject and I can encourage their curiosity. Then, with practice, simplification of terms and processes they are able to grasp concepts as they become enchanted with the charms of the math world.

Teaching should be used as a tool to plant knowledge and encourage exploring. I always think of teaching as a system where “You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives” by Clay P. Bedford. Knowing ones students is critical to their development as students and our roles as teachers. My philosophy is to respect, teach and become a mentor to my students. I believe in the constructivist model of teaching. I think that Special Education students are exceptional in all that they can achieve. I believe that all children have the right to learn in a safe and nurturing environment regardless of their disability. I believe that children learn through discovery, inquiry and project-based learning. I will encourage my students to become critical thinkers. I will encourage my students to think, create a product that shows knowledge, skills and preparation on units.
