SchoolPlus offers Common Core-aligned ELA and Math test preparation classes for students in Grades 3-6 throughout our NYC locations in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Our classes are designed to prepare students for the exams. We focus on the concepts covered on those tests and on the test taking strategies. We are very proud that 90% of our Math students get “high 4” marks on the official 1-4 grade scale on their Math tests. Below is a brief description of ELA and Math test requirements and our preparation approach and strategies.
The ELA test includes reading comprehension, multiple choice questions; short and extended constructed responses. Our teachers cover in-depth writing conventions, word choice, organization, sentence fluency, voice, ideas/content, editing/revising the work, expanding the vocabulary. Our experienced teachers are dedicated professionals who work in public schools and are very familiar with all the necessary requirements.
For the Mathematics test the students are asked to demonstrate their problem-solving skills as well as to explain how they arrived at their answer. The key is to meet all the necessary requirements to earn the maximum number of points allotted for each problem. Our Math Prep classes are focused on reviewing all relevant topics, test taking strategies, and improving concentration.
SchoolPlus excels at test preparation due to a number of factors, such as:

The Practice Tests that we run during every class mirror the types of questions, test format, and the New York State Test standards. Our rigorous curriculum gives students multiple opportunities to practice with topics similar to the ones on the new test.
