The students are expected to have the following skills upon enrollment:
Add and subtract fluently within 10 and add and subtract numbers under 40 mentally through the use of number lines. Students should also be able to count up to a 100 forward and backward beginning with any number and a given sequence. In addition, students should be able to compose and decompose given numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones and other ones.
During the year the 1st grade students will learn the following areas of common core curriculum for math:
Operations and Algebraic Thinking
Х Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction within 40.
Х Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction
Number and operations in base ten
Х Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 39 into ten ones and other ones

Х Measure lengths indirectly and by repeating length units.
Х Tell and write time
Х Represent and interpret data
Х Geometry
Х Distinguish between defining attributes versus non-defining attributes; build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes

and their parents have to face. As unfair and ridiculous this situation may be, letting
your children obtain some useful learning skills early, is not a bad idea.

This class is designed to develop their logic and reasoning skills, introduce basic
mathematical concepts, and help our students be more aware and learn more about
the world they live in.

During our classes weТll work on developing better memory skill
and attention span, pattern recognition and sequencing, problem solving, creative
thinking, and verbal skills. WeТll use a lot of attractive visual aids, games and printouts
to help our little students enjoy the learning process.

While one of the classТs main goals is to prepare children for the OLSAT/BSRA test for
gifted and talented, we think that introducing them to the classroom setting will also eventually help them feel more comfortable in their school environment.

Little singers

This class is designed to initiate preschoolers ages 3 to 5 in musical practice and collective singing. Students will learn the basics of choral singing: Correct breathing techniques, intonation, interpretation, and memorization, through fun activities and exercises involving the whole body, and will apply them to a repertory of children songs celebrating nature, friendship and music. The group will meet once a week for 45 minutes class/rehearsal leading to their active participation in the end-of-semester concert.

Choosing various interesting topics for each lesson, weТll learn about numbers, shapes, colors and patterns, solve logical problems and puzzles, work on memory and motor skills, and explore various ways of creating classifications.

WeТll also focus on studying Russian language. Alphabet, basics of reading and writing, text comprehension, vocabulary, and speech development are all going to be our primary targets in this class.
