Welcome to our Art History classes at the Manhattan School Plus
featuring trips to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other NYC museums.

The tours are conducted in Russian.

The general subject of our Spring 2010 tours is "The Art of the Ancient World"

This semester I am going to take you through the galleries of Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Greeks and Ancient Romans. We'll talk about the fascinating world of art, culture and history of these civilizations.

What role did art play in ancient world in general?
How were different specific objects of art used in their time?
What information about history can we glean by looking at the art works?
In what ways are these culture similar, and what sets them apart?


The dates for the Spring 2010 are
March 13 at 2pm and 3.30pm - Reading Egyptian Art
April 17 at 3pm and 4.30pm - Heroes of Ancient Greece
May 1 at 3pm and 4.30pm - Ancient Greek Art. Apollo, Dionysis and Music-making.
May 15 at 3pm and 4.30pm - Roman Art
June 5 at 3pm and 4.30pm

An additional tour to MoMA will be scheduled for the beginning of June.

The price of the class per semester is now $90.
All payments are due on the first day of the classes. Please, make the checks payable to School Plus.

Registration
Due to the limited size of the groups we cannot accept any walk-ins!
The students who attended our classes regularly over the past few years will be given priority.
Registration is required for everyone.
